Red Reishi is working well for daughter's sinus allergies. She always had to take the usual meds for allergies (loratidine aka claritin)whenever the day becomes windy which is almost everyday lately. She calls it her "allergy day." In the mornings, at the breakfast table, she will first have the sniffles and then eventually the sneezing will follow. When this happens, I would take out her bottle of allergy pills and she would take one. One day, we discovered to our dismay, that she ran out of pills. My fault really because it was my chore to make sure she always has a supply of these allergy pills and off course, other meds that we used every now and then to relieve our common health symptoms. It was then that I gave her the Red Reishi pills which I myself have been taking. I learned that it was good for a hosts of problems including hypercholesterolemia (fancy term for eating to much junk food that leads to elevated cholesterol in the blood) which my doctor said was my primary diagnosis. I still wonder what my secondary diagnosis is. Anyway, there I was with my daughter who was starting to sneeze louder and in threes. I would always tell her not to sneeze too hard or else she will end up with red eyes and her reply will always be: "it feels better and more satisfying when i sneeze loud!" My wife, off course was getting upset at me for running out of my daughter's usual allergy pills and was in the process of digging into her oversized purse for a claritin. Actually, it will not be surprising if she finds one in her wonderful oversize purse because I have witnessed that purse cough out wierder stuff like a tuna sandwich and a ping pong ball and red electrical tape. Amazing! Going back to my daughter ... she finally took a Red Reshi pill and fortunately we were out of time for anymore discussions on why we ran out of her usual allergy pills. After morning prayers and devotions and a special silent prayer from her Dad that she may be free from her worst allergy symptoms (i think i don't need to enumerate them because everybody in L.A. knows), she went off to school with her mom and the oversize purse. The next morning, I realized to my horror that I forgot to pass by VONS to get a fresh supply of loratidine aka claritin. And it was a very Sta. Ana windy day. To my surprise and relief, my daughter was not sniffling or sneezing at all. My wife did not notice my negligence. But, I did gave my daughter another Red Reishi pill to take. And from thereon, she has taken a pill every morning. We sort of forgot allergies for a time although it was always windy. Fast forward 3 weeks. It was another windy day and to my dismay, we ran out of Red Reishi pills. My fault off course because it was my chore to make sure ... Even worse we had ran out of the Red Reishi pills 2 days before and my daughter is sniffling and sneezing as loud as ever. I remember her asking me first if I still have some "Red Reishis" - that's how she call them. I just looked at her with a frown. Then my wife came with her oversize purse. She stuck her hand into the purse and for a second or two we watched her feel her way deeper into the bag. And there lo and behold, in her hand was a bottle of Red Reishis. Problem solved! What will I ever do without my beautiful wife. She is like a whiff of fresh air on a windy smoggy day in L.A.
